Privacy Policy
Last updated 31 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information BeAgric collects, why we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have.
Who we are
BeAgric is run by Benovate Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14364852). Our registered office is 61 Bridge Street, Kington, HR5 3DJ. Benovate Ltd is the data controller for the personal information described here and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (registration number ZC282494).
You can contact us about privacy at hello@beagric.com or through our contact page.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, password (stored only in encrypted form), phone number if you add one, town and postcode.
- Location: the postcode you give us, which we turn into an approximate map position to show local weather, nearby growers and delivery areas. We do not track your device's location.
- Growing records (growers): your fields and beds, plantings, grow diary entries, photos, harvests, notes, staff records, expenses and sales you enter.
- Plant checks: the photos you check and the result.
- Orders: what you buy or sell, delivery name, address, postcode and phone number, notes, and payment status. Card details are entered on Stripe's secure page and are never seen or stored by us.
- Community and reviews: questions, answers, reviews and replies you post.
- Messages to us: anything you send through the contact form or by email.
- Technical information: your IP address and browser details in our server logs, which we keep for security.
Why we use it and our lawful basis
- To provide your account and the service you ask for, including the marketplace, orders, reminders and plant checks (contract).
- To pass order details between buyers and growers so an order can be packed, collected or delivered (contract).
- To take payment for paid plans and card orders through Stripe (contract), and to keep financial records (legal obligation).
- To send service emails such as order updates, reminders you have switched on and password resets (contract).
- To keep BeAgric safe, prevent fraud and spam, and moderate public content (legitimate interests).
- To improve the plant-check model. Plant photos may be used to test and improve our AI model. We only use the plant image, not your name or contact details (legitimate interests). You can ask us not to use your photos for this at any time.
- To tell you about BeAgric news or offers, only if you have agreed (consent). You can stop these at any time.
What other people can see
If you are a grower, your shop name, town, description, listings, reviews and any grow diary you choose to make public are visible to everyone. Your exact address is only shared with buyers who order for collection. Community questions and answers show your name. Buyers' details are only shared with the grower they order from.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- the grower or buyer on the other side of an order;
- our hosting provider, which stores the website and database;
- Stripe, for card payments and plan subscriptions;
- our email provider, to deliver service emails;
- services that run parts of the site: postcodes.io (we send it a postcode to find its map position), Open-Meteo (we send it an approximate map position to get the weather), OpenStreetMap (map images on the grower map) and jsDelivr (delivers the plant-check software to your browser). These services see your IP address when your browser loads from them;
- professional advisers, the police or regulators where the law requires it.
Plant checks run in your own browser. Your photo is uploaded to BeAgric only to save the check to your history.
How long we keep it
- Account and growing records: while your account is open, and deleted within 90 days after you close it.
- Orders and payment records: 6 years, as required for tax and accounting.
- Plant checks made without an account: up to 12 months.
- Contact messages: up to 2 years.
- Server logs: up to 90 days.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive a copy to take elsewhere. You can withdraw consent at any time. You can delete your account yourself in account settings. To use any other right, contact us. We reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Security
The site uses an encrypted connection (https), passwords are stored using one-way encryption, and access to personal information is limited to people who need it to run BeAgric.
Children
BeAgric accounts are for people aged 18 and over. Younger growers are welcome to use BeAgric with a parent or guardian who holds the account.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and tell account holders by email about important changes.
