Grower and seller terms
Last updated 31 October 2026
These terms apply when you sell on BeAgric, in addition to our Terms of Use. They exist so buyers can trust every shop on BeAgric.
1. Before you sell
- Your shop goes live only after BeAgric has approved your account.
- You are responsible for following food safety law. Many people who sell food, including from home, must register with their local council as a food business at least 28 days before they start. Registration is free. Read our guide to selling food safely and check with your council.
- You are responsible for your own tax. HMRC's trading allowance currently lets you earn up to £1,000 a year from selling without telling HMRC. Above that, you need to register for Self Assessment.
2. Honest listings
- Describe produce accurately, with honest photos, and keep your stock levels up to date.
- Only sell food you grew or produced yourself, unless your listing clearly says otherwise.
- "Organic": by law, food can only be sold as organic by a producer certified by an approved organic control body. Only choose "Certified organic" if you hold a current certificate, and give its number. Otherwise use "Grown without chemicals", and only if that is true.
- Your grow diary must be a true record. The BeAgric approved badge is given, and can be removed, at our discretion, based on your diary and growing practices.
- Don't list anything illegal or unsafe to eat. That includes produce treated with a chemical that isn't approved for that crop, or picked sooner after a treatment than the product label allows.
3. Orders and delivery
- Accept or decline new orders promptly. We email you when one arrives.
- Pack produce cleanly, keep it cool, and deliver or have it ready in the time you show in your shop.
- Keep buyers' details private, and use them only to complete their order.
- If produce is not as described or not fit to eat, offer the buyer a refund or replacement.
4. Fees and payment
- BeAgric takes a fee on each completed sale. The fee depends on your plan: Seller 8%, Grower 6%, Grower Plus 5%, Smallholder 3%. The fee is worked out on the price of the produce, not the delivery fee.
- When buyers pay by card, Stripe pays you through your connected Stripe account after taking BeAgric's fee and Stripe's own processing fee. Payment timings are set by Stripe.
- When buyers pay you on collection or delivery, BeAgric may invoice you for the fee on those orders.
- Paid plans are covered by our Terms of Use.
5. Your responsibility
You are the seller of everything you list, and you are responsible for its quality, safety and description. You agree to cover any loss Benovate Ltd suffers because you broke these terms or the law when selling on BeAgric.
6. Suspension and removal
We may hide listings, take a shop offline, remove the BeAgric approved badge or close an account if a grower breaks these terms, receives repeated serious complaints, or puts buyers at risk. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you the chance to put things right.
